Pre Treatment
What is SMP?
SMP or Scalp micropigmentation is a non-surgical solution for hair loss. We use a specialised technique to deposit pigment into the skin's dermal layer to mimic hair follicles to create the appearance of a shaved head or to add density to thinning hair.
Will the treatment hurt?
Based on client feedback, the experience is more of a discomfort than pain, but as pain is subjective this varies for each individual. Typically discomfort is felt only in certain areas or with thinner scalps or scar tissue. We recommend using moisturising lotion on the scalp pre treatment to soften the skin and minimise discomfort. The results will definitely outweigh any temporary discomfort you may feel.
Is SMP permanent?
Yes! The results are permanent, but in order to maintain your best look, touch-ups are recommended every 3-4 years. The longevity of the results can vary depending on your lifestyle and immune system.
Will I notice a difference after my first session?
You'll see immediate results in treated areas, giving the appearance of more hair follicles on your head. The first session lays the foundation, with subsequent sessions building up to your desired look. Our clients are pleased with the results right from the start.
Treatment
How long will treatment take?
Your quote is inclusive of 3 sessions of SMP spread across 3 separate intervals each taking between 2 to 5 hours with a minimum of 10 days between the first and second treatment. The third treatment is recommended one month after the second session.
How will you match my hair colour?
We cater for all hair colours, using the initial session to match your correct shade. In the following sessions we assess how the colour has settled, adjust if necessary and blend further to ensure natural looking results.
How will my hairline be created
We work closely with our clients to define the most suitable hairline, considering factors like age and facial shape. Some prefer a natural hairline, others a sharp, defined barbershop style and some opt for a slightly more matured receding look. Don't worry, we will illustrate the design first so whatever you choose, we can create and refine it over the three sessions to achieve your desired look.
Will it look realistic?
Whether you need SMP for the appearance of a fully shaved head to better frame your face or to add density to thinning hair, the results will be seamlessly natural.
Is treatment safe?
Rest assured, the treatment is completely safe. Our fully registered, licensed and qualified clinic adheres to the highest industry standards for the treatment which is carried out in a clean and sterile environment.
Post treatment
Can I get sweaty?
To achieve the best results you must strictly avoid sweating for the first four days after each treatment. From day five you can continue with physical activity but do not sweat excessively for ten days.
Will my scalp look red?
Initially after treatment you may experience some redness. Each client is different so this is dependant on individual skin conditions and complexity but the redness should resolve within 2-24 hours.
